COLOURPOP REVIEW AND SWATCHES

COLOURPOP REVIEW AND SWATCHES

So I recently placed an order with Colourpop via Borderlinx, since Colourpop don't deliver to the UK I had to go through a service that would allow me to do so.(That's a review for a different time)
We've all seen our news feeds on Instagram and YouTube being spammed with our favourite gurus and MUAs talking about the almighty Colourpop! We all know that they were made popular by collabing with multiple gurus and there eyeshadow textures and pigmentation and the amazing drugstore price! I personally discovered Colourpop via Wayne Goss. He did a review and hype on the products and I fell in love.  I personally didn't buy any of the eye shadows mainly because, I own wayyyy to many and most of the colour selections I wouldn't personally wear but, as we all know I have an unwilling addiction to lip products so, I decided to get the lip pencils, lippie stix, Ultra Satin and Ultra Matte lip products. A lot of people who I watch on YouTube have package problems, advertisement suggests a box but, they receive a shitty letter. I actually did get a box! I think it depends on how much you order? No clue.

Luckily enough when I ordered Colourpop were celebrating 2 million followers on Instagram so they were giving away a Matte X Lipstick called Poppin' which is a new brand of lippies that they're working on. This colour isn't one I will be wearing since it is a bright pink and I don't see myself ever picking it up, so I may be giving away to someone who will appreciate it more.

Onto the swatches!

Marshmallow

This colour is something that intrigued me, it's a very unique lavender/grey shade.  Although on me it looks more purple than grey but, this is definitely a shade that can be paired with pastel looks and even some neutral eye looks. The pencil itself seems like it can be sharpened with an actual pencil sharpener! (Edit: it totally can) I also purchased this shade in the Ultra Satin lip formula.  Which is actually my favorite formula I've ever used. It does go on a little streaky though,  like most light shades of lipsticks it is expected. Pairing these 2 together actually create a gorgeous coverage and and they can also be used separately! The texture of the Satin Lip is very peculiar though, it's more like a mousse than a liquid lipstick which I thought it would be.

(this is the only decent swatch I've actually done of this colour, I'm sorry but, LOOK HOW GORGEOUS THIS IS)

Petit Four

This is another one of those colours that confused me. If you've ever shopped on Colourpops website before you will notice while looking at a certain product they recommend you products that go with them, this shade was a mix of that and curiosity. This shade is a dark blue, slightly lighter than Jeffree Stars Abused. The texture once again is more like a mousse than a liquid. Very thick as well. I paired this with a nude eye look mainly because, I was experimenting.

Grunge
I brought the pencil of this to match the lippie stick. (I'm still not a huge fan of the name..cringe) the pencil actually goes with a lot the colours purchased. What I found with the Lippie Stix is that they go on so smoothly and pick up so much pigment. It glides on and is incredibly pigmented. The colour of this is kind of a dark brown nude. Perfect. It isn't completely matte but, it lasts through a few kisses.

StingRAYE
I mainly purchased this when I saw that it was a dupe for Jeffree Stars Androgyny and for that I completely agree. This colour is hands down one of my favourite shades to use. Its a muted red nude lip and it isn't too heavy on the reds or nudes, kind of just right in the middle.

Tulle
Tulle is kind of a dark brown/red colour. I would use this if you're new to dark lipsticks and you're not ready to take that huge step into full on black lips. I wear this as much as I can but, this shade for some reason really crumbles on my lips, no matter how much I moisturise them beforehand. Either way, I think it really is a gorgeous shade and it's pretty unique.

Solow
This is hands down my favourite nude lip colour. I'm not a fan of nudes at all but, this one seemed to be one that caught my eye. This shade is a light red/nude shade with a slight peach undertone. I wear this shade probably the most out of all of them as it seems to pretty much go with everything.

Kiddo
Do you ever buy a product because, of the name? no? just me? well...
This is just kind of a very sheer lipstick with an undertone of red. I don't actually wear sheer lipsticks ever but, I thought this would be handy on the more 'natural' days.

Kapow
This shade is kind of a muted taupe colour (they actually say this on the website, oh wow.) I've been a huge fan of grey lipsticks or grey toned lipsticks ever since Posh Spice by JS came out. Kapow is alot darker than PS though but, it does look really nice on the lips. The only thing with this colour is that I have no idea what kind of makeup look to pair it with. Maybe I'll try out some more stuff.

Chilly Chilli
I was so sad when I opened my package and I saw Chilly Chilli leaking. My heart broke in that second. Although, I hear leaking with colourpop is a big issue anyway so I was kind of expecting it. Either way, I managed to save alot of the product and it was a pretty easy fix so no biggie. This shade is a gorgeous brown undertoned red (kind of like chilli? I guess.)

Teeny Tiny
This colour kind of reminds me of a pinky/brown nude colour. This colour actually looks somewhat decent on me which amazed me because, I usually don't suit brown shades at all. I think this would look amazing with a smokey eye or a neutral cut crease.

Lumiere 2
I brought the Lumiere pencil to go with this, mainly because it was suggested to me. I find this colour so pretty. I can't see myself wearing it often but, the days that I did wear this I got alot of compliments from the colour and that it 'looked good on me.'

Trap
I was recommended this shade by a friend and I've been loving it ever since. It's kind of a dusty grey out pink colour which, I am currently obsessed with. This colour is so unique it definitely is an underated colour combo. At the moment, next to Solow, this is becoming one of my go-to nude lipsticks.

Poppin'
Lastly, I thought I would show you the beast that is Poppin' which, was a free gift from Colourpop to celebrate 2mil on Instagram. This is also a tester of there new 'Matte X' Lipsticks. Which, I'm assuming is literally just a hella Matte finish. I doubted this shade alot because, when I swatched it on my hand I felt a panic because, this is a REALLY hot pink. Like, mega. Like, I said at the beginning of the review I'm still kind of on edge on whether to keep this shade in my collection or not. The formula of this is also kind of flaky on the lips. I guess that's what to expect on a very new product that hasn't really been tested yet. This shade is so vibrant though, I can't find anything to wear it with but, deep down I know that someday I'd maybe have to grab for a Hot Pink colour. Oh, the hoarding struggles.

I'm actually going to order some more things from colourpop in the future. The highlights have caught my eye and I saw Thrift Thick swatch Hippo and I fell in love.  So another review is in the making somepoint in the future.

Overall, I'm very happy with colourpop although, there is a few bad things I could say. The major problem is that they're incredibly drying and a pain to get off. I wore some of these out for the whole day and some of them sadly didn't survive me even drinking from a water bottle or being careful when I was eating so they did need a top up occasionally. Which, colourpop don't recommend because, it makes them flake off even more than they did before. They aren't the worse Liquid Lips that I've tried but, they aren't the best either which, made it upsetting but, that doesn't mean that I wont stop wearing these because, the colours are amazing and the pigmentation is insane. I just wont wear them from long periods of time.
(edit: if you're struggling getting these off then, use a lip balm over them and wipe with a makeup remover! It make it a whole lot easier!)

Thanks for reading! Next time I'll try out some of there shadows and Blushes!
